Martin Blais, Ph.D.
Martin Blais is a sexologist and sociologist, full professor in the Department of Sexology at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). He also holds the Research Chair in Sexual Diversity and Gender Plurality.

His research interests include sexual diversity and gender plurality. His work seeks to better understand the challenges faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer or questioning people (LGBTQ+) in the areas of life that are important to their development, such as family, school, work, the internet, leisure, and sports. Among the challenges he seeks to document are sources of violence that individuals may face, such as bullying or violence in family or intimate relationships. He seeks to understand the effects of these challenges on the well-being and health of LGBTQ+ people. He also seeks to identify the factors that help them to thrive, develop a positive self-image and empowerment, such as self-esteem, authenticity, resilience, and social support. He is a regular researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Intimate Relationship Problems and Sexual Abuse.
